Skates left his 30-year career as a chemist to become a speechwriter and advisor to Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin and then served as a Senior Adviser in the Trump Administration.
Chris Skates is a former Chemist, a former gubernatorial speechwriter, a presidential advisor, and a leukemia warrior. Chris writes fiction that features strong men that love their families and communities and exhibit courage, dedication, and valor. His new book, Moonshine Over Georgia features his real-life grandfather at protagonist, who was just such a man.

Chris Skates’ foray into government seemed in hyperdrive. He felt it was his patriotic duty to do all he could to restore our nation to its first principles and a greater respect for life.
Skates had left behind a 30-year career as a chemist to become a speechwriter and advisor to then-Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin. He was an energy policy wonk and had the honor of collaborating with the White House a few times on key issues.
When Bevin wasn’t re-elected in 2019, Skates began to prepare a return to private life when he was appointed as a Senior Advisor in the Trump Administration. He headed to Washington D.C. with his family.
